Nature Before: the property was a melina farm. A mono-crop of melina attracts and sustains no wildlife and will actually interrupt a wildlife corridor. We have taken out the melina and are studying the best methods and designs for developing that will encourage habitation and breeding grounds for the area's wildlife with no damage to lowlands etc... GPS coordinates were taken on 220 trees around the golf course that we used in designing the course. Some holes were re-routed, and in some cases we found that golf play will be enhanced by the changes. When not possible to play around the existing trees, of which there were very few, we are moving the trees.

Nature During: we will employ development practices which will enhance wildlife habitation. We will not employ construction practices which cause erosion and red-mud runoff that then kills the coral, among other negative effects, in the coastal waters. Soil stability, and wildlife habitats and corridors will influence decisions made in the process. We currently have 15,000 indiginous rain forest and fruit trees to plant, and are applying for help in acquiring 15,000 more.

Nature After: We are dedicated to offering to the residents of San Buenas Golf Resort an amazing life style. The fact that it is a golf course presents challenges here since a golf course is a lot of grass - grass that needs to be in really good shape. There are insects, fungus, and burrowing animals that are going to work against us. We will do our absolute best to deal with these in an earth friendly way to reduce, and hopefully eliminate, our introducing chemicals into the water ways that then run to the sea. A balance of nature is the best way to keep such adversaries to a minimum.

The result will be a golf course based community that offers a great lifestyle to its residents and guests, while having as small an ecological footprint as possible. And, since it is going to be a money making association, we will be able to continue these healthy and life sustaining practices indefinitely, guaranteeing that the project will be "truly sustainable" in all ways.

Golf Before: golf course designers were chosen based on their interest in producing a tournament play course that will be stimulating and enjoyable to all levels of play. A challenge from the Championship Tees, and a progressively easier play from the Men's, Ladies, and Beginners Tees. The selection of land is the key, and it has been found. The designers accept projects only if there will be a minimal amount of tractor work necessary. "Designed by God" is what we say around here.

Golf During: attention to the quality of play continues right on through the construction process with adjustments being made as necessary. As previously unknown elements come known, such as proximity to villas, clubhouse, hazards and so on, the emphasis is on the holistic good of the project. (Elements being: Animal, plant, human and earth)

Golf After: An addictive experience. Therapeutic for it's setting and ambient. And of course, the reasons all golfers love the game: that frustratingly elusive quest of having played it well.
