My first visit to Costa Rica was in 2002. I immediately fell in love with the warmth of the climate and people. After spending two weeks in San Jose, and Puerto Viejo on the Caribbean side, then Tamarindo in Guanacaste, I knew there was a good chance I would return sooner than later. Sooner came just 6 months later when my uncle mentioned he was flying down to Costa Rica to close on a piece of property in the Southern Zone.
On that trip I found my own piece of paradise above the small town of San Buenaventura, current site of the San Buenas Golf Resort. Two years and 8 trips later, I decided to move here full time. Every day I am thankful for that decision.
I was formally educated at Cal Poly, San Luis Obispo with a B.A. in English. I love to write, primarily non-fiction essays fueled by the interesting people and events that fill my days. I served as an international marketing manager for Creative Labs during the MP3 boom, as an officer in a biodiesel start-up company, and as a certified Realtor® for the top real estate company in Santa Cruz, California. Now, I share my knowledge of this emerging area with those who want to purchase their own piece of paradise. Pura vida.
Ben's note: The basic mission statement of our office is to "take care of the client, and the rest'll take care of itself". I have personally witnessed Rod's dedication to this approach to business in action, and I believe that he embraced it long before he ever found Dominical Dot Biz Select Properties. Rod and I work in the Uvita Office as a sort of tag team, which allows us to be more attentive to our clients; there is not a proprietary view of the client. I don't think that our clients notice much difference in the professionalism of service they receive between us. I heartily recommend Rod as a great choice in the selection of your Costa Rica real estate agent.
Added note: Rod lives in San Buenaventura where the now becoming famous San Buenas Golf Resort is located. Because of this, Rod is somewhat of a specialist in the areas surrounding the golf course. These properties are not part of the golf course, but are estate size parcels of 5 - 20+ acres. Some have have nearby waterfalls, some, golf course overlooks, and all have great ocean views. This "specialty" is of note due to the "early" value level of the properties there. The area is still largely undeveloped. These properties offer what many of our clients are looking for, be they investors, re-locators, or those looking for an income generating property.
