Costa Rica Surf Camps

An article by Dominical.Biz

Dominical is mainly on the map for its surfing.

Little by little this is being augmented by the phenomenal scenery that is all around this area of the pacific coast of Costa Rica. Much of the northern parts of Costa Rica have been developed to look like so many other tourist areas of the globe. These areas have been developed for good reason, they are beautiful. They feature the nice hotels, golf courses, restaurants, and amenities that one would expect to find in tourist destinations. Costa Rica is a beautiful country, and so these areas flourish as they offer all the comforts in the unique environment that is Costa Rica.

Dominical is a different sort of place. Sure it is being developed, but those who are involved in the development have, at least for the time being, convinced this observer that the developing of the Dominical area is going to be different than what has been called by some as,"over development" in some of the more northern areas. The northern areas have been the first to develop due to their proximity to San Jose which features the main airport. Airport location has everything to do with development of tourism. There is also an airport in Liberia, Guanacaste, which now offers some direct flights to the states, and so the Guanacaste area is well developed.

Anyway, how does all of this relate to the topic of 'surf camps in Costa Rica'? "Surf Camps" are a natural 'development' for the Dominical area since there is so much more to the area than strictly surfing. The area's surf camps feature full vacation packages that allow one to do more than just learn to surf. Although, if that is all one wants to do, learn to surf, or polish up one's technique, Dominical is a great place to do it.

The concept of a "Surf Camp" is that you have all of your accommodations taken care of through the one institution, (I know, not a great word amongst surfer, but I am an old guy) or "business" if you will. One would expect to have their lodgings, meals, and obviously, surf lessons taken care of by their selected surf camp. Due to the diversity of the Dominical area, the surf camps offer not only feature the above, but they also offer adventure tours.

There are a number of waterfalls in the area that one can spend an entire day exploring. There are some waterfall tours in the area that feature overnight stays in a cave and rappelling down the face of the falls.

There is a tremendous expansion under way of ecotourism in the area hence, Rainforest Canopy Tours, complete with the Zip line experience. Experienced guides are actually teachers of the delicate natural balance seen in the area's ecosystems.

There is sea kayaking through sea caves and out into the open waters, as well as some mountain biking, and one can even learn to Salsa dance.

A surf camp in Dominical will offer all of these activities in will laid out yet flexible vacation packages.
